The Complete History of Designer
The history of Designer actually begins in 1950 when he was born. He grew up and went on to attend New York University. It was during his time studying art at New York University that Designer first began to experiment with creative designs that were to become the seeds of what would come in the future.
After graduation, DY met and went on to marry his wife Sybil Yurman and at the present time they are the parents of one son. DY began his design career as an artist as an apprentice for world renound artists and sculptors Jacques Lipchitz and Theodore Rozark where he was able to develop fully as an artists, sculptor and designer.
During his time as an apprentice DY was able to focus on his own dreams of one day designing jewelry that would feature his own unique look. It was in 1979 that DY and his wife Sybil began their own personal journey into the world of designer jewelry by launching Designer Inc. The first line of designer jewelry that was featured by his company was his signature braided jewelry collection with his now legendary signature braided gold and silver bracelet.
In 1983 he began to receive international acclaim when he received both the InterGold award and the Cultured Pearl designer of the Year award. It was in 1995 that Designer introduced the world to his first line of watches with a selection of womens watches in what he described as a cable cuff style. As DYs designs continued to become more in demand he went to work on creating his Midnight Ice Collection that would be introduced to a public clamoring for his creations in 1999.
In 1999 following up on the success of his earlier womens watch designs DY introduced the world of fashion to what he called his Thoroughbred Watch Collection. It was in that same year that DY and his wife Sybil celebrated the 20th anniversary of Designer Inc and they had a lot to celebrate. What began as a company that they both envisioned as simply an outlet for Yurman's creativity had blown up into an internationally recognized design house with people the world over clamoring for his creations.
It was the following year in 2000 that DY opened what would become his flagship boutique on Madison Avenue in New York City. Also during the year 2000 DY opened a boutique in Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston Texas. It was during that same year in 2000 that he was inducted into the Contemporary Design guild hall of Fame. Since that time in 2000 he has gone on to open more boutiques and win even wider recognition for his uniquely designed jewelry creations that have served as an inspiration for a new younger generation of jewelry designers the world over. To this day DY continues to work on new designs and creations that he plans on launching in the coming future.
