Amber in 14kt. Gold
One of my favorite gemstones is Amber. To see it set in 14kt. Gold would be terrific, although I am still more of a fan of white gold or silver than yellow gold. I don’t own any amber in 14kt. Gold although I do have a piece as a ring set in silver with filigree edge setting. On eBay I have found a necklace of amber in 14kt. Gold and it is very beautiful but the bids are already up to $155. Baltic amber is supposed to be the best and show the most trapped insects in it; amber being a resin from trees that 30 million years ago fossilized to become the gemstone that it now is.
Amber is prized for its glowing color and that you can occasionally see the insects trapped within it, giving it some mystique. There are websites such as ambericawest.com specializing in Baltic amber with flies and seeds and other objects buried in the very clear amber. These are made into amber in 14kt. Gold pendants and they are very attractive and a talking point. Prices vary, but a good pendant of amber in 14kt. Gold would cost over $300.
If that sort of price was beyond your pocket it would be worth checking out Bidz.com as you could find a much better price than what you would have to pay retail. Bidz.com is an online auction website, offering $1 no reserve bidding on a wide range of jewelry products. It is a great place to look for jewelry and with the prices that you can achieve by bidding, you can buy such good jewelry at a much discounted cost to that of retail prices. If you are looking for amber in 14kt. Gold, Bidz.com could save you an awful lot of your hard earned cash.
